Intercept Warm Edge Glazing SystemIntercept is a unique, tin plated steel seamless U-channel spacer bar which is located at the point of contact where the glass is sealed to the window frame. The U-channel spacer bar is manufactured as one continuous piece thus providing excellent structural integrity and superior thermal performance in all Harvey windows. In addition, Intercept "warm edge" technology provides 10% warmer indoor glass edge temperatures, provides for outstanding argon gas retention, a higher "R" value, and excellent condensation resistance. See how Intercept is used in our AdvantEdge Warm Edge Glazing System. Air InfiltrationAir Infiltration is the amount of air leaking in and out of a home or building through cracks in walls, windows and doors. The rate of air infiltration is measured around a window or skylight in the presence of a specific pressure difference. It is expressed in units of cubic feet per minute per square foot of window area (cfm/sq. ft.). The lower a window's air infiltration rating, the better its airtightness. R-ValueR-value measures the resistance of a glazing material or fenestration assembly to heat flow. It is the inverse of the U-value. A high R-value window has a greater resistance to heat flow and a higher insulating value than one with a low R-value. U-Value
U-value measures the rate of non-solar heat transfer from one side of the window to the other. Heat transfer implies both heat loss out of a living space during cold weather and non-solar heat gain during hot summer months. The lower the U-value, the better performance of the window.
